CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga (PIA) — The Pag-IBIG Fund has bolstered its programs for members in Central Luzon, delivering a range of financial services to enhance financial security and improve access to affordable housing.
During the 24th episode of the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas of the Philippine Information Agency, Pag-IBIG Fund San Fernando Housing Business Center Department Manager Brenda Cao highlighted that active members in the region collectively saved P7.50 billion through the Pag-IBIG Regular Savings program from July 2022 to September 2024.
“This savings program provides members with a secure way to grow their financial resources, offering annual dividends as one of its benefits,” she said.
To address members’ immediate financial needs, Pag-IBIG disbursed P8.20 billion in Multi-Purpose Loans during this period. These short-term loans give members quick access to funds for everyday expenses, education costs, and other financial needs.
Cao emphasized that Pag-IBIG Fund has also extended vital support to members affected by natural calamities by distributing P1 billion in Calamity Loans. These loans, offered without processing fees or upfront interest, ensure fast financial assistance for members in disaster-stricken areas, helping them recover and rebuild.
Pag-IBIG Fund’s commitment to housing assistance remains strong, with P50.61 billion disbursed over two years to enable 46,823 members to purchase or improve their homes.
“Pag-IBIG has prioritized affordable housing by allocating P2.64 billion for Socialized Housing Loans from July 2022 to September 2024, which has benefited 5,635 members in Central Luzon. These loans offer interest rates as low as 3 percent to make homeownership more accessible to Filipinos,” she noted.
In a recent initiative for typhoon-affected families, the organization announced a one-month housing loan payment moratorium for members in areas impacted by Typhoon Kristine.
Eligible borrowers can apply for this relief through Virtual Pag-IBIG or at any Pag-IBIG branch until December 31, 2024, allowing them to prioritize urgent needs during their recovery.
“We want our members to see the tangible benefits of their savings. Every peso saved strengthens Pag-IBIG, which ultimately benefits members through dividends and returns,” she explained.
