“We are doubling our efforts to finish the 23.27-kilometer Bongabon-Rizal-Pantabangan and 23.19-kilometer Canili-Bazal sections which are under Contract Packages (CP) I and III respectively, ”project engineer Maximo Carvajal told members of the Regional Development Council(RDC) Project Monitoring
Committee in a recent site visit.
“The project intends to promote better movement of goods, services, and people between the provinces of Aurora and Nueva Ecija by finishing the remaining unimplemented sections of Bongabon- Baler Road,” Carvajal said.
The entire project is under the DPWH’s Road Upgrading and Preservation Project with initial funding of PP828.38 million loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
“Scope of works include roadway embankment and aggregate sub-base course, and construction of new Portland cement concrete pavement with 6.7 meter width and 230 millimeter thickness,” he added.
He also said the project covered the “reconstruction of four bridges and road approaches, replacement of superstructure and widening of four bridges, repair of superstructure of two bridges, and drainage structures and slope protection works.”
“CP II or Pantabangan- Canili section and CP IV or Bazal-Maria Aurora-SanLuis section were finished in June 2011 and 2006, respectively,” he said.
