ANGELES CITY – Two separate drug stings here on Sunday, Feb. 19, yielded shabu with an estimated street value of P754,800,000 and the arrest of four suspects including two Chinese nationals.
In a report, city police director Col. Juritz B. Rara identified those arrested as Chinese nationals Willy Tan Zhang, 51, of Unit 20-B Admiral Baysuites, Roxas Blvd, Malate, Manila and Yi Xin Li, 49, with address at Jose Abad Santos Ave., Tondo, Manila; and their Filipino cohorts Reziel Barelos, 30 of Sitio 6, Muzon, San Juan, Batangas and Mark June Barzaga, 23, with address at Sta. Teresa, Purok 7, Lucena, Quezon Province.
Zhang and Barelos were arrested by joint operatives of PDEA-NCR Manila District Office, PDEA-3 Pampanga Provincial Office which served as the lead unit, city police intelligence unit, CIDG-Angeles field office and Police Station 2 in a buy-bust operation at Apt-A Timog Hills Town House, Barangay Pampang at 10 a.m.
Seized from the suspects were 81 kilos of suspected shabu (including the buy-bust item) estimated at P550,800,000, bundles of boodle money and one genuine P1,000 bill with serial number MR120878.
During the process of investigation, Zhang reportedly suffered hypertension and was brought to the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Less than two hours after, at 11:52 a.m. of the same day, operatives of PDEA-NCR Eastern District Office, PDEA-3 Pampanga Provincial Office, together with Police Station 2 and the city police intelligence unit conducted another drug sting along Poinsettia Ave., also in Barangay Pampang which resulted in the arrest of Yi and Barzaga and the confiscation of 30 kilos of suspected shabu (including the sold item) valued at P204,000,000; eight bundles of boodle money and one genuine P1,000 bill with serial number XP071021; three cellular phones; two ID cards of the arrested suspects; and one metallic gray Toyota Avanza bearing plate no. ABQ9912.
In commending the police operatives for their successful operations, Colonel Rara said their accomplishment only shows that “the Angeles City Police Office is very serious in its campaign against illegal drugs, and will never stop its efforts in pursuing criminals who are involved in illegal drug trade.” Punto News Team
