CLARK FREEPORT – A joint operation of the Bureau of Customs-Port of Clark and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Airport Interdiction Unit (PDEA-AIU) intercepted a parcel containing P1.562-million cocaine and ecstasy (methylenedioxymethamphetamine).
The parcel which arrived on April 25 originated from London, United Kingdom and was bound for Dumaguete City, Philippines. On April 28, a K-9 sniff test conducted by customs examiners and PDEA operatives yielded positive results for illegal substances, prompting a full physical examination of the parcel.
Found inside the parcel were travel kits, first aid kits and five vacuum-sealed transparent plastic packs. Further examination showed that two vacuum-sealed packages contained a white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine, weighing approximately 128 grams with an estimated standard value of ₱678,400.
The three other packs were found containing a yellowish powdery substance suspected to be methylenedioxymethamphetamine (ecstasy) weighing approximately 208 grams, with an estimated standard value of ₱884,000.
Samples submitted to PDEA for chemical analysis confirmed the substances as ecstasy and cocaine, dangerous drugs listed under RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act), as amended.
A warrant of seizure and detention was issued against the shipment for violation of sections 118(g), Section 119(d), and Section 1113 paragraphs (f), (i), and (l) of RA 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act), in relation to RA 9165.
District collector Jairus S. Reyes underscored that this operation serves as a strong reminder of the importance of vigilance and close inter-agency coordination, while reaffirming Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio’s directive to strengthen border protection and intelligence-driven enforcement efforts.
“As we work closely with partner agencies, our mission goes beyond seizures—we are protecting our communities, preserving lives, and supporting the nation’s development agenda under the leadership of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.,” said Commissioner Rubio. “Our efforts at the borders are vital to the overall security and health of the Filipino people.” BOC-Clark
