BALANGA CITY (PIA) — About 4,500 seedlings were planted in two National Greening Program (NGP) sites in Bataan to support forest restoration, improve ecosystems, and strengthen community resilience.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), together with the Office of the Vice President, Peninsula Electric Cooperative Incorporated, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, and National Electrification Administration, led the tree growing activity.

DENR Community Environment and Natural Resources Office Dinalupihan Head Marivic Santos reported that participants planted 3,000 seedlings of narra, cashew, and guyabano on a three-hectare site in Limay, and 1,500 seedlings of narra, duhat, and coffee on a two-hectare site in Pilar.
For his part, DENR Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo said the activity highlights how partnerships can create long-term gains for the environment and communities.
“Planting trees is a commitment to safeguarding Bataan’s greener future, boosting community resilience, and preserving our local ecosystems. It goes beyond simply putting seedlings in the ground. By working together, we are fostering not only trees, but also sustainability and optimism for our communities,” Pablo said.
The initiative forms part of the continuing implementation of the NGP, which aims to increase forest cover, conserve biodiversity, and provide livelihood opportunities for local residents. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Bataan)
