SUBIC BAY FREEPORT – In celebration of Labor Day, the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority held a job fair on May 1 at Harbour Point, Ayala Mall.
SBMA Labor Department head Atty Melvin Varias said more than 50 companies inside the freeport participated in the job fair offering some 2,800 work opportunities.
The event started at around 5 a.m. with a 3-kilometer fun run joined by SBF workers and their relatives with lots of surprises awaiting the winners.

“Masaya kahit pagod ang grupo dahil sa pagkakataon na maidaos ang nabanggit na activities para sa ating mga manggagawang Pilipino dito sa Subic Bay Freeport Zone, at sa iba pang mga gustong maging manggagawa dito sa loob ng SBF,” Varias said.
Job seekers, including some 300 new graduates from Lyceum College in Olongapo City, were lining up as early as 8 a.m.
Varias said other activities were slated for the day including “Sulong SBMA” singing competition and free massage for freeport workers as part of the Relax, Enjoy Siesta Timeout (REST) scheme, at the Ayala Mall Activity Center.
At the SM Central in Olongapo City, 20 out of 200 job applicants were hired on the spot at the job fair joined by 62 companies.
