SAN MARCELINO, Zambales – A total of 100 out-of-school youth were the beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) after they signed their contact under the Programang Patrabaho ni Pangulong GMA.

The project was spearheaded by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in cooperation with the local government unit of San Marcelino.

“Mahalaga ito sa amin at malaking maitutulong nito para sa mga displaced workers, konting tiyaga at kahit paano malaking tulong ito sa ating pangkabuhayan”, said Mayor Jose Rodriguez.

According to Alvin Villamor, DOLE assistant regional director, the beneficiaries will perform community works in their respective barangays within 22-days and after their work will undergo training at TESDA for 40 hours, equivalent to five-day training in welding, automotive maintenance, food processing and cosmetics.

“This training is in preparation for job opportunities, magagamit nila yung kanilang training sa paghahanap ng trabaho dahil may certificate naman sila na manggagaling sa TESDA na nagpapatunay na tapos sila sa training”, said Villamor.

While working, the beneficiaries will be given social protection from SSS covering the period of one month and PHILHEALTH covering the period of one year.
