MARIVELES, Bataan — This municipality for the past months have been considered as the epicenter of the coronavirus disease in Bataan and has remained on top of the other 10 towns and one city in the province in having the most number of active Covid-19 cases.
For the month of September this year, however, the number of active cases in the industrial town went down continuously from 1,236 on September 2 to 176 on September 23.
Mariveles is home to more than 90 multinational firms with more than 40,000 workers. Of the 29 vaccination centers in Bataan, seven are in the town.
From being No. 1, Mariveles is now in 7th place overtaken by Dinalupihan – 762, Balanga City – 736, Limay – 281, Morong – 261, Orani – 208, and Hermosa – 186. With lower cases were Orion – 163, Abucay – 148, Samal – 142, Pilar – 97, and Bagac – 39.
This is from the 3,199 active cases that Bataan has out of the total 25,521 who tested positive of Covid–19 after listing 157 new confirmed cases on September 23, 2021.
The latest Covid-19 update also showed that the province recorded 21,395 individuals who have recovered after having 274 new recoveries while registering 927 deaths with the addition of four new casualties.
The new confirmed cases were from Dinalupihan (50), Balanga City (35), Morong (21), Abucay (15), Samal (9), Limay (7), Mariveles (6), Orion (6), Hermosa (4), and Orani (4).
The newly-recovered came from Dinalupihan, 88; Balanga City, 58; Mariveles, 53; Limay, 19; Abucay, 14; Samal, 12; Orion, 11; Pilar, 11; Morong, 3; Hermosa, 3; Bagac, 1; and Orani, 1.
The new fatalities were: 71-year old and 59-year old, both males from Bagac and 65-year-old female and 62-year-old male from Dinalupihan.
