MARIVELES, Bataan- Five oil industry players over the weekend conducted the second Industry Emergency Response Olympics at the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific here to highlight the petroleum industry’s readiness and competence in responding to emergency situations.
Mark Quebral, policy, government and public affairs manager of Chevron Philippines, explained that the Olympics emphasizes the importance of a safe working environment for the employees, and the protection of facilities and resident communities.
Chevron which has Caltex products as its marketing brand was the lead sponsor of this year’s emergency readiness exercises. Competing teams aside from Chevron are Liquigaz, Petron Corporation, Petroleum Authority of Thailand and Total Philippines.
Their teams showed their expertise in fighting flange fire and open tank fire, cardio pulmonary resuscitation, artificial respiration and bandaging/splinting.
