IBA, Zambales — Overseas Filipino workers (OFW) in Zambales and Olongapo who are members of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) can now easily inquire and be assisted of their programs and services as newly migrant desk offices will be open in each town of the province.
Last July 23-24 in the town of Iba, OWWA regional offi cials headed by Director Ma. Lourdes V. Reyes conducted a Capability Training deputizing managers and staffs of Public Employment Service Offices (PESO) all over the province to be a migrant desk officer who will be the front in bringing major services of OWWA to the Zambales
folk.
Reyes said the capability training includes primer of OWWA programs such as benefits for the members, education and training programs, scholarship and incentive programs and livelihood assistance.
“We wanted our members in Zambales to be fully aware of the benefits that they could get. That is why through our PESOs who are in the front of employment and opportunities bridging activities, we are confident that Zambalenos will be informed and be assisted of our services.” exclaimed Reyes.
Zambales Provincial PESO Manager/ Vice Gov. Ramon G. Lacbain II said that deputizing PESO managers and staffs to be migrant desk officers is part of the thrust in bringing services closest to people under the leadership of Governor Hermogenes E. Ebdane, Jr. “We all want that our OFWs fulfill their dreams. What they are working for should also benefi t their families.
That is why our OWWA members can now go directly not only to our Provincial PESO but also to our Municipal PESOs where they can inquire and be assisted of OWWA programs and services.” said Lacbain.
Lacbain added that this September 12 concurrent with the jobs fair at Cabangan Town sports center will be the Grand MOA Signing for the institutionalization of Migrant Desk Officers in different municipalities. He said that OWWA officials and local officials will be there to fi nally ink the agreement.
