WTC transformed into We Heal As One Center

CLARK FREEPORT –
Over 300 overseas Filipino workers from Maldives arrived at the “We Heal As One Center-World Trade Center (WTC)” on April 26, for their 14-day mandatory quarantine.

The OFWs, who came in four buses, will have access to round-the-clock medical care by the Armed Forces of the Philippines Health Service Command and will be provided free meals by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration at the We Heal As One Center.

Meanwhile, some 400 OFWs are now staying at the 502-bed facility, including the repatriates from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates who arrived on Friday.

The We Heal As One Center-WTC is managed by 18 military doctors, 30 nurses, and 60 medical aides, according to the AFP.

The conversion of facilities into quarantine sites, as well as the mandatory isolation period for returning OFWs, are part of the government’s strategy to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and to decongest hospitals in Metro Manila.

The National Task Force Against COVID-19, Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Health, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority, and private groups Ayala Land Inc., Globe Telecom Inc., Manila Water Co. Inc., Integrated Micro-Electronics Inc., AC Energy Inc., Investment and Capital Corp. of the Philippines Group, and the Manila Exhibition Center Inc. were able to transform the We Heal As One Center-WTC into a quarantine site in a week.
