MABALACAT CITY – An 84-year-old woman who initially survived an attack by suspected robbers inside their residence in Barangay San Joaquin here last Sunday succumb to her injuries Wednesday night at the Tiglao Medical Foundation Center where she was brought.
Cresenciana Cuffee died from the injuries she sustained during the attack. She was able to alert their neighbors of the ongoing robbery after she managed to run out fromtheir residence and shouted for help. Cresenciana’s husband,Benjamin, 85, fondly called Sgt.
Coffee by friends and acquaintances, was pronounced dead-on-arrival at the same hospital after sustaining 24puncture wounds in his chest. A bloodied screwdriver found in the scene of the crime could be the murder weapon, police said. Robbers barged into the house of the octogenarian couple at around 1:45 p.m. last Sunday.
Supt. Henry G. Flores, chief of police, said robbery is the possible motive for the attack. A witness, Paula Argawanon, 68, said she saw two suspects wearing bonnets, crash helmets and black jackets leave the Cuffee residence in haste. She also said one of them had a brown backpack.
The witness, a neighbor of the victims, said the two suspects left the Cuffee residence and boarded a “Honda Wave” motorcycle. Initial police investigation revealed that the victims had just arrived at their residence and upon entering their gate the suspects forced their way in.
