CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Mayor Oscar Rodriguez said the activities for the city’s May 30 fiesta celebration will be more exciting due to the active participation of the private sector.
“This year, the City of San of San Fernando has more reason to celebrate fiesta. We have been elevated to being first-class component city surpassing the 400-million-peso-mark with our income that totalled more than P600 million in 2008,” said Rodriguez in a statement.
He led the unveiling of the “Pyestang Fernandino” activities and presentation of the Fiesta Executive Committee.
Councilor Nelson Lingat, this year’s chairperson, said various activities are scheduled up to June 12.
Richie Garcia, head of the Lakan-Bini ng San Fernando, said the “gay contest” will return after four years. It was last held in 2005.
“We looked for a better name to replace the name gay,” said Garcia.
Lingat said they decided to bring back the contest for the “third sex” to bring “not so serious events” in the fiesta.
