CITY OF MALOLOS — The National Youth Commission (NYC) has started operating its first mobile radio station that will serve as a training facility in the field of journalism for the youth especially those residing in a far–flung areas.
The Cyberspace League mobile radio station was launched recently with a simple ceremony led by NYC chairman Ryan Enriquez, Greco Belgica of the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission, and Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto.
Enriquez explained that the mobile radio station will reach areas like Central Luzon to serve as an important link with the youth sector, particularly sangguniang kabataan members to air their voice along with community accomplishments and activities especially amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to Enriquez, the mobile radio station airover 87.9 FM and has the webcast capability which will serve as a training facility for youth journalism all over the country.
The National Telecommunication Commission has granted them a broadcast permit and it is now the official radio station of the NYC, Enriquez said.
He further explained that the mobile radio station is a way to sustain the youth journalism training being conducted by the NYC.
Enriquez also said that Rommel Ramos, Punto! correspondent and also NYC’s highly technical consultant will lead the Cyberspace League along with other media practitioners.
In relation to the project, NYC, PACC and Pasig LGU signed a manifesto for the Kabataan Kontra Katiwalian to encourage the youth to participate in the government’s anti-corruption programs.
