Samal, Bataan: Barangay Sta. Lucia in Samal, Bataan has Santacruzan for its concept in its delayed celebration of Nutrition Month.
Children in beautiful Santacruzan costumes paraded at the same time vying for the title “Mr. and Ms. Nutrition Month 2025”.
Architect Karlen Poblete, Barangay nutrition scholar, said nutrition month is supposed to be celebrated on July but was postponed due to the destructive typhoons and habagat that hit the province. “Ang aming bagong concept is Santacruzan de Nutrition kung saan ang mga bata ay naglalakad ng naka-gown tapos sila ay hahawak ng mga simbolo ng nutrition.”
“Ito kasing goal ng nutrition month ngayong taon na ito ay to raise awareness doon sa food and nutrition security. Ang theme nga natin is ‘Food and Nutrition security maging priority, sapat na pagkain karapatan natin’,”she said.
Participating in the Santacruzan de Nutrition and the “Mr. and Mrs. Nutrition Month 2025” are children nine years old and below.
Barangay Kagawad Ernesto Siasat and Flocerfida Esconde and Rural Health Midwife Lolita Poblete delivered their messages during the program emceed by Nurse Rachel Lucia Dela Cruz. Hector Forbes is Barangay chairman of Sta. Lucia.
