CABANATUAN CITY (PIA) — For years, residents of Barangay General Luna in Carrangalan, Nueva Ecija faced unsafe and uneven roads that made access to markets, schools, and health services a daily challenge.
Travel often meant delays, costly vehicle repairs, and difficult trips especially during the rainy season.
This situation has now changed with the completion of a 0.678-kilometer concrete road by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
The project, worth P9.7 million under the 2025 national budget, now provides the upland community with safer and faster travel.

The new road enhances connectivity, reduces travel time, and lowers transportation costs.
Farmers also benefit as it ensures easier delivery of goods and access to services.
DPWH Nueva Ecija 1st District Engineer Jun Vana highlighted the importance of the improvement.
“In upland areas, where steep and uneven roads often cause delays and hazards, the concrete surface ensures safer and more stable transportation. This is a vital route for residents and farmers in elevated communities. The improved road allows easier and safer movement, especially during the rainy season,” Vana said.
The project supports the infrastructure drive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to improve mobility, reduce isolation in remote areas, and strengthen the delivery of essential services. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Nueva Ecija)
