DINALUPIHAN, Bataan — A suspected member of the Communist Party of the Philippines – New People’s Army was killed during a firefight between police and a rebel group in a village here Saturday afternoon.
Lt. Col. Emelito M. Dela Cruz, Dinalupihan police chief, said the still unidentified casualty was among more or less 20 insurgents that three teams of the police Special Action Company encountered in Sitio Pintong Bakal in Barangay Pinulot.
Members of the SAC were undertaking combat operations when they encountered the rebels believed members of the Sandatahang Yunit Propoganda (SYP) under the Komiteng Larangang Gerilya of the West South Party Committee of the CPP-NPA.
Police recovered a long firearm, a handheld radio and a bandolier at the scene of the encounter. There was no fatality from the government side.
Joint personnel of the Dinalupihan police and the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company established blocking force in Pinulot, Dela Cruz said.
