MALOLOS CITY—Liberal Party standard bearer Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III earned majority of votes in Central Luzon defeating five other presidential candidates in their own home province.
In the vice presidential race, Makati City Mayor Jejomar Binay edged Aquino’s running mate Senator Mar Roxas by 35,791 votes.
Based on the Commission on Elections (Comelec) partial count in Central Luzon, Aquino earned a total of 1,812,958 votes compared to 1,070,923 votes earned by former President Joseph Estrada.
Total vote cast in Central Luzon reached 4,294,649 with Bulacan leading at 1,158,982 votes cast.
Aquino defeated his cousin and Lakas-CMD standard bearer Gilbert Teodoro in their home province of Tarlac.
He also defeated Bangon Pilipinas standard bearer Eduardo “Bro. Eddie Villanueva in Bulacan; Bagumbayan standard bearer Senator Richard Gordon and Ang Kapatiran Party’s JC delos Reyes who both came from Zambales; and Nacionalista Party’s Senator Manny Villar in Bataan.
In their home province of Tarlac, Aquino earned 387,624 votes compared to Teodoro’s 65,139 votes.
In Bulacan, the home province of Villanueva, Aquino garnered 521,549 votes compared to Villanueva’s 67,184 votes.
In Zambales, the home province of Gordon and his nephew Delos Reyes, Aquino garnered 127,722 votes compared to Gordon’s 49,462 votes; and Delos Reyes’623 votes.
In Bataan, the home province of Villar, Aquino garnered 130,322 votes compared to Villar who hailed from Orani town with 77,066 votes.
Partial Comelec count in Central Luzon also showed that Senator Manny Villar is third behind Aquino and Estrada.
Villar garnered a total of 513,775 votes in Central Luzon. He is followed by Teodoro with 505,045 votes; Villanueva with 158,974 votes; Gordon with 112,860 votes; Senator Jamby Madrigal (4,281); Olongapo City Councilor JC Delos Reyes (4,010); and Nicanor Perlas (3,593).
Aquino led other presidential candidates in five out of seven provinces in Central Luzon, but lost to Estrada in Aurora and Nueva Ecija.
Estrada garnered a total votes of 35,956 votes in Aurora and 426,542 votes in Nueva Ecija compared to Aquino’s 23,060 in Aurora and 295,015 in Nueva Ecija.
But these leads by Estrada were eclipsed by Aquino’s commanding lead in his home province of Tarlac, Pampanga and Bulacan.
Aquino earned a total vote of 521,549 in Bulacan and 327,666 votes in Pampanga compared to Estrada’s 344,413 votes in Bulacan and 43,298 votes in Pampanga.
In the vice presidential race, Binay earned a total of 1,702,473 votes in Central Luzon compared to Roxas’ 1,666,682 votes.
Binay defeated all other candidates for vice presidents in the provinces of Bataan, Aurora, Bulacan and Nueva Ecija; while Roxas led in the provinces of Pampanga, Tarlac and Zambales.
Behind Binay and Roxas are Senator Loren Legarda with 464,009 votes; former MMDA Chair Bayani Fernando with 168,745 votes; actor Edu Manzano (59,666); Bangon Pilipinas’ Perfecto Yasay (45,583); Kilusang Bagong Lipunan’s Jay Sonza (9,585) and Ang Kapatiran Party’s Dominador Chipeco with 3,379 votes.
