As part of its commitment to providing honest nourishment for every Filipino, Bounty Cares Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of the Bounty Group, recently concluded an intensive feeding program in the town of Gainza, Camarines Sur.

Bounty Cares Foundation and GMA Kapuso Foundation collaborated on a 120-day feeding program in Camarines Sur, which ranked 6th in the highest prevalence rate of undernutrition (6.7%) out of 38 provinces in Luzon, to combat hunger and malnutrition. The initiative successfully helped 300 severely malnourished children gain an average of 3.20 kilograms from an initial average weight of 17.57 kilos.

The success of the program was driven by the quality of the food provided. Understanding that real health starts with real food, Bounty Cares supplied high-protein essentials, including Bounty Fresh chickens and eggs. These “Real Food” staples are critical for muscle development and cognitive function during a child’s formative years.

The program supported wasting and severely wasting students aged 5 to 9 across six schools in the town of Gainza: Gainza Central School, Dahilig Elementary School, Cagbunga Elementary School, Sampaloc Elementary School, and Loob Elementary School.

Bounty Cares Foundation provided essential food items, including Bounty Fresh whole chickens, pork, and eggs, which are critical for muscle and brain development. The nutritious meals also included vegetables, high-calorie and ready-to-drink milk, and vitamins, helping the children be more physically active and engaged in school.

“Nutrition plays an important role in a child’s development. In a time when we are experiencing severe malnutrition in the country, we are glad to be able to provide support to help children fight stunting and wasting,” said Evan Chen, Bounty Cares Foundation Overall Program Head. “We need to take care of our children and ensure they have access to food with proper nutrition so that they can grow healthy and thrive as adults.”
