CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The Civil Service Commission (CSC) inCentral Luzon has extended the deadline for the submission of nominations for the 2011 Search for Outstanding Public Officials and Employees in the region.

The CSC said state workers can still be nominated for the three awards, namely Lingkod Bayan, Pag-asa and Dangal ng Bayan awards up to this Friday, April 15. The deadline was supposed to have been yesterday.

The agency said the Lingkod Bayan award is given to an individual or group for “extraordinary contributions resulting from an idea or performance which had nationwide impact on public interest, security and patrimony.”

The CDC said the Pag-asa prize is given to an individual or group for “outstanding contributions resulting from an idea or performance which directly benefited more than one department of government.”

On the other hand, the Dangal ng Bayan honor is to recognize a person for “performance of extraordinary act or public service and consistent demonstration of exemplary ethical behavior on the basis of observance of the eight norms of behavior under Republic Act 6713 otherwise known as the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.”

The CSC stressed that the nominees must be in government service at the time of the nomination.

“Posthumous nominations are allowed, provided that the nominees died while still actively working for the state. The nomination should be filed within a year from the death of the official or employee,” the agency also said.

The CSC also said that the nominee should also have obtained at least a “Very Satisfactory” rating or its equivalent in the last two performance evaluation periods and have never been found guilty of any administrative or criminal offense involving moral turpitude.

“A group may be nominated even if there are members who fail to meet squarely the mentioned qualifications but these members, however, shall be excluded from the grant of award should the team be chosen as a recipient,” the CSC also said.

Nomination forms and the requirements may be downloaded in the commission’s official website – www.csc.gov.ph.

The CSC said inquiries could be done by calling up its regional office here, with numbers (045) 455-3240, 455-3242, 455-3244 and 455-3245 or by visiting its provincial offices.

The annual search for public service exemplars is managed by CSC’s Honor Awards Program (HAP) secretariat.
