CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Nine were killed and 14 wounded in various election-related incidents during the last campaign and election period in areas under the Armed Forces Northern Luzon Command (Nolcom).
In a report, Nolcom, which covers Regions 1, 2, 3 and the Cordillera Administrative Region, also said that it recorded during the period a total of 24 shooting incidents, six grenade-throwing cases , four mauling cases, two ambushes, one burning of PCOS machine, one sabotage, and six violations of the Comelec gun ban.
But Nolcom noted that the number of incidents reported in the last election period was lower than those noted in the 2010 elections.
“Unusual events with the involvement of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) were very limited,” Nolcom said.
Nolcom said that “after evaluating all the cases related in 2013 election, it can be said that all had been managed and controlled with the collective efforts of the AFP and the PNP chaired by the Comelec,” Nolcom added.
Nolcom said its troops would remain vigilant and on alert status “until such time the election processes are fully completed.”
