TARLAC CITY – The Armed Forces of the Philippines Northern Luzon Command (Nolcom) hosted a peace summit for some 125 rebel returnees.
The recent two-day summit, which carried the theme “Bukas Loob na Pagtanggap para sa Pagbabago,” was meant to provide social protection and livelihood assistance for each returnee for a better life.
The program featured moral recovery activities to help the returnees with their spiritual and inner strength and dialogue highlighting insights and inspiration to continuously support peace initiatives.
Nolcom commander Lieutenant General Emmanuel Salamat stressed the importance of being open to embrace peace towards new life as a responsible citizen of the country.
“We want a peaceful alternative to resolve conflict. The Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program is designed to support rebels who want to be converted and become useful Filipino citizens,” Salamat said.
“With your support and cooperation, we can carry out this mission one step at a time and let us therefore make every effort helpful which will lead us to peace and mutual enlightenment,” he added.
