NOLCOM celebrates 35th anniversary

TARLAC CITY — Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) celebrated its 35th founding anniversary.

In his speech, NOLCOM Commander Lieutenant General Ernesto Torres Jr. presented the accomplishments and transformation of the unified command through the years.

“As we celebrate the command’s special milestone, this offers an ideal opportunity for us to reflect upon how NOLCOM has achieved its remarkable accomplishments over the years,” the commanders said.

These include the initiatives in line with Executive Order No. 70, or the whole of nation approach to end local communist armed conflict.

“In the previous year, I am happy to report that the command through its Joint Task Forces reached 80 percent accomplish rate in clearing our focus areas, which led to the dismantling of one guerilla front—Rehiyon Sentro De Grabidad, Komiteng Rehiyon-Cagayan Valley and weakening of six other guerilla fronts,” Torres shared.

He also recognized partner national government agencies, organizations, and private sectors who supported in pushing forward the mission of the command in its area of operations.

“On the 35th founding anniversary of NOLCOM, I am pleased to congratulate the awardees, partner stakeholders and each member of NOLCOM, past and present, for the heroism and sacrifices you have offered to this unit up until now,” he said.

Further, he encouraged troops to remain consistent in fulfilling their mandate of serving the Filipino people.

“To the Defenders of the North, let us continue to work hard and keep the fire within us burning. Let us continue to strengthen the capabilities of a true defender and uphold our commitment and strategic objectives aligned with NOLCOM’s transformation roadmap,” Torres urged.

Ancillary activities include sports fest and launching of Amianan Media Channel (AMC).

AMC is an online news program in partnership with Philippine Information Agency which features development projects, government programs, and AFP initiatives in Regions 1,2,3 and Cordillera.
