TARLAC CITY — Armed Forces of the Philippines Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) assured its efforts in maintaining peace for the upcoming National and Local Elections.

NOLCOM Commander Lieutenant General Ernesto Torres Jr. made the commitment during his courtesy visit to Tarlac Governor Susan Yap.

“Being at the forefront in the campaign to end local communist armed conflict in North and Central Luzon, we are devoted to attaining that ardent desire of the President and Commander-in-Chief to end communist insurgency by July 2022,” he said.

NOLCOM troops will continue to assist the police in enforcing security control to ensure that no election-related crimes will take place, and that the right of suffrage of voters will not be disrupted by any occurrence of violent incidents caused by communist terrorist groups who will take advantage of the situation.

“With our partnership, we will undoubtedly achieve our ultimate goal of creating secure communities that foster lasting peace, security, and development in the beautiful province of Tarlac,” he furthered.

Meanwhile, Yap expressed her gratitude to the military for their commitment in keeping the peace in Tarlac and pledged to sustain the peace and order by preventing election-related violence from occurring.

She lauded the military for their professional performance of mandate and vowed to actively support the government’s campaign to end the decades-long communist armed conflict in the area.

NOLCOM seeks to coordinate with other local chief executives in its area of responsibility to further intensify dynamic interagency collaboration, which is instrumental to the overall achievement of lasting peace, security, and progress in North and Central Luzon. (CLJD/GLSB-PIA 3)
