CABANATUAN CITY – The prices of face shields in at least two Nueva Ecija areas ranged from P25 to P349 a piece, a check by the Department of Trade and Industry showed on Tuesday.
DTI–Nueva Ecija provincial director Brigida Pili said their officials led by division chief Bobby Faronilo and Maben de Jesus conducted a monitoring of stores in the municipality of Talavera and San Jose City.
This despite the absence of suggested retail price for face shields yet. The Department of Health, it was learned, is preparing the SRP as the product is considered a medical need.
“No sign of panic buying observed, and supply is available and abundant in both municipalities,” Pili said.
Based on their monitoring, regular face shield with thin plastic cover is sold at P50 a piece while that with thicker plastic cover is pegged at P75 each in Talavera.
The high-end one with head cover and thick acrylic cover, on the other hand, is sold at P349.
In San Jose City, an ordinary face shield with thin plastic cover is pegged at P25 while the thicker one was P50 each.
The Department of Transportation ruled that commuters in public utility vehicles should wear face shield, on top of face mask, as a measure to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease.
