BALANGA CITY — The National Food Authority provincial office here on Monday stopped the delivery of NFA rice to its accredited retailers in public markets in Bataan.
Maribeth Magcaling, NFA provincial operations officer, said they were reserving whatever stock they have for the needs of local government units and the Department of Social Welfare and Development in cases of calamities.
She said that they were still doing tests on palay for milling they bought from local farmers.
“Hindi namin alam kung kailan magre-resume ang supply para sa mga accredited NFA retailers,” Magcaling said.
Rows of rice retailers at the Balanga City public market have no stock of NFA rice.
Commercial rice instead f lled boxes for NFA rice.
“Sa linggong ito walang NFA rice kasi dinadala raw sa mga lugar na binagyo at sa Marawi,” rice retailer Leonila Alonzo said.
“Maraming naghahanap dahil mura,” she added. A kilo of NFA rice sells at P27.
