The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) will not cease operations even after the 2016 national elections.

The PPCRV works with the Commision on Elections (Comelec) to ensure “free, fair, and fraud-free elections” in the country. The organization is affiliated with the Catholic church.

For the past six years since its inception in 2010, the organization has been actively advocating for genuine electoral reforms by providing voters’ assistance services and voters’ education.

“Ang PPCRV kasi nagigising lang tuwing elections time. From PPCRV, ang advocacy  namin, gagawing PPCRP— Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Politics. Ang goal namin ngayon is to make our leaders accountable,” Reverend Father Kenneth D. Alde, chairman of PPCRV-Pampanga said.

side from their ongoing voters’ education, the restructured PPCRP is also conducting a study regarding Catholic voting behavior to make up better strategies on how they should approach the voters for it to be effective.

“Kasi medyo, para bang suntok sa buwan ang lahat. Napakarami nating activities, pero dapat naiintindihan muna natin yung mga kinakausap natin, ‘yung mga Katolikong bumoboto,” Fr. Alde said.

In Pampanga alone, PPCRV mobilizes 3,000 volunteers to carry out the organization’s advocacies. More than half of them are from the youth.

“Mostly ginagamit ngayon ay ‘yung mga youth, sila ang involved. What’s interesting is marami silang pinapasok na bago dahil very creative nga sila. Social media accounts, initiative nila ito,” Fr. Alde said.

The PPCRV conducts the Unofficial Parallel Count of returns after the election.

“This year, the elections has been relatively peaceful and smooth,” he said.
