PANTABANGAN, Nueva Ecija – A construction worker was killed and a teen-ager was wounded in successive incidents of violence in this mountainous municipality Tuesday night.
Diomedes Garcia, 47, resident of Sitio Bayabas, Barangay Poblacion East here died of multiple gunshot wounds after a gun attack at about 6 p.m., according to the police.
Investigation showed the victim was tending a sari-sari store when repeatedly shot by two suspects on board a single motorcycle.
“The victim, who fell on the ground in front of his store with gunshot wounds, was brought by his neighbor to Rafael Clinic at Rizal, Nueva Ecija but was pronounced DOA by his attending physician,” said investigator SSgt. Marilou Liban.
Follow-up operations are being conducted for possible apprehension of the suspects, police added.
At around 6:30 p.m., Gian Luigi Valin, 18, resident of Barangay Sampaloc here was allegedly hacked by a certain Roy Tinio, 22, over an old grudge.
Police said the suspect was in a drinking spree with two other companions when the victim passed by to buy something nearby.
The suspect reportedly confronted the victim which ensued in a physical struggle.
“Suddenly, the suspect, identified as Roy Tinio, hacked the victim,” police reported.
Tinio is now the subject of a manhunt.
