SAN FERNANDO, PAMPANGA – The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) represented by its Chairperson Regalado Trota Jose Jr. together with the City of San Fernando and its City Tourism Investments Office will commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Nicolasa Dayrit on 10 September 2024 at Casa Nicolasa, V. Tiomico St., Sto. Rosario, City of San Fernando, Pampanga at 9:00 a.m.
The event will start with the national anthem to be followed by a wreath-laying ceremony. A eucharistic celebration for Nicolasa Dayrit will be done before hearing messages from the Local Council of Women, NHCP, Office of the City Vice-Mayor and Office of the City Mayor. A cultural performance by Teatro Fernandino shall close the program.
Nicolasa Dayrit-Panlilio was born on 10 September 1874 in San Fernando, Pampanga. She is known for her contributions during the Filipino-American war, where she aided sick and wounded Filipinos as well as being the bridge that mended the relationship between the warring General Antonio Luna and General Tomas Mascardo. Aside from this, she, along with other Kapampangan women, sewed and embroidered the flags used by the revolutionary forces in their province.
The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote Philippine history through its museums, research, and publications, and to preserve historical heritage through conservation and the marking of historic sites and structures.
