CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga (PIA) — A non-government organization is inviting volunteers from the youth sector to support its programs for abused women.
Sagip Babae Foundation (SBF) Community Manager Aubrey Rhose Buenaventura said their organization offers program to help young adult women who are survivors of sexual abuse and domestic violence.
“We are saving them and giving them the opportunity to heal. Our aim is for every woman to feel safe and supported. We provide them with an avenue to voice their issues and concerns and seek help without the fear of getting judged,” she said.
Buenaventura said that the program typically receives reports regarding violence against women within the bounds of marriage, adding that SBF resolves these by looking at the situation and connecting them with their partners to understand what healing modalities suit them.
She added that the program also focuses on health aspects, holistic service, and wellness partnerships.
“SBF uses two approaches to fix the problems of women. The first one is the individualized approach which assists women to undergo healing together with a psychiatrist, psychologist, and other medical experts. The second one is the community approach solution which offers healing sessions, programs, and mindfulness activities to women who do not want to undergo the first approach,” Buenaventura explained.
Aside from these, she said that SBF also has programs and activities such as psychological first aid training, social media campaign, women’s festival, and community empowerment intended for the abused and even non-victim women.
The programs and activities, according to her, were made to help women undergo training and sessions for non-medical persons and professionals on handling and supporting people in times of distress, reclaiming survivors’ lives, and their pathway to healing.
Their social media campaign, meanwhile, continuously posts about mental health care, self-care, and love for all women.
In addition, the community empowerment spreads awareness through educational talks on building healthy habits, the psychology of touch, consent, bodily autonomy, the power of meditation, mindfulness, gender-based violence, and its effect on well-being.
