MABALACAT CITY – A local reporter of the weekly Central Luzon Businessweek, suffered minor injuries after losing her balance when robbers snatched her wallet Thursday night last week.

Minerva Z. Arceo, 40, lost a bunch of identification cards and her driver’s license when her wallet, tucked under her armpit, was suddenly grabbed from behind by robbers on board a motorcycle while she was crossing the street in Barangay Dau here.

Arceo fell to the ground after losing her balance injuring her left elbow.

Arceo said she was crossing the street along the NLEx road connection to the MacArthur Highway in front of the Shell gasoline station near the Mabalacat Bus Terminal here at around 9 p.m. when the back rider of a pink motorcycle, which passed her from behind, grabbed her wallet causing her to fall on the ground.

She said the robbers fled towards the direction of Barangay Duquit in the west.

Sources said the area in the vicinity of the Mabalacat Bus Terminal has become notorious as petty thieves continue to thrive in the said locality.

Not a few have been victimized by thieves, sources said.

The area is also the favorite spot of mendicants which include children. Police investigator, PO1 Jude Michael C. Gonzales, said they are now conducting follow up operations to locate the suspects who remain at large.
