ANGELES CITY (PIA) — About 200 students at Mapiña Elementary School in Magalang, Pampanga now enjoy a safer, more organized, and conducive learning environment following the completion of a new school building.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has constructed a P14.6-million, two-story, four-classroom facility within the school.
Funded under the Department of Education’s Basic Educational Facilities Fund, the 506.51-square-meter facility features comfort rooms on each floor, a ramp accessible to persons with disabilities, and a steel fire exit staircase, ensuring both accessibility and safety for all students and faculty.

DPWH Pampanga 3rd District Engineer Arnold Ocampo emphasized that the project addresses long-standing challenges in Sitio Mapiña in Barangay San Ildefonso, particularly classroom overcrowding and inadequate learning spaces.
“This initiative is part of the department’s ongoing efforts to meet the increasing demand for quality educational infrastructure,” Ocampo said.
The new building is expected to enhance teacher-student engagement and provide a safer, more structured setting for academic activities. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Pampanga)
