BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The new police provincial director of Bataan on Wednesday promised to work hard in serving the province and its people with discipline and best practices as his guide.

“My mistah said ‘I did my best’, I say I will do my best,” said Senior Supt. Ricardo Zapata, incoming Bataan police director. The mistah he referred to is Sr. Supt. Arnold Gunnacao, outgoing provincial police director.

The two police officers both belong to Philippine Military Class 1985.

“Mag-uusap kami ni Arnold kung ano ang mga project na naiwan niya na kailangang ituloy at tapusin para sa ikagaganda ng serbisyo ng pulisya sa Bataan with the active participation of the citizenry,” Zapata said.

On the finished projects, he said he will sustain them.

Gunnacao was assigned to Camp Crame after finishing his stint as provincial police director for more than two years.

Zapata served as chief of the Regional Investigation and Detective Management (RIDM) Division of the National Capital Region Police Office prior to his assignment as police head of Bataan. He had held the post of directorate for IDM in Camp Crame.

Chief Supt. Edgardo Ladao, Region 3 police director in San Fernando, Pampanga, led the change of command.

“Walang permanente sa posisyon na ito kaya mag-iwan kayo ng magandang legacy saan man kayo madestino,” he said.

To other police officers, Ladao asked them to extend the assistance they gave to Gunnacao to the incoming provincial director.

Mayors Carlos Pizarro, Jr. of Pilar, Gene dela Fuente of Samal, Jesse Concepcion of Mariveles and Jose Enrique Garcia III of Balanga City attended the ceremony at Camp Tolentino, seat of the police provincial office in Balanga.
