The new owner, Filinvest consortium, was given a Notice of Award dated January 27, 2016 by the Clark Development Corp. (CDC) for the lease, development, operation and management of the former MLE covering 201.64 hectares through a 50-year lease agreement contract.
Mabalacat City Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales said he is reaching out to Filinvest to further raise the age limit to accommodate all displaced former workers because some of them are already above 45 years old.
“These are mostly caddies in the golf course who are considered casual workers,” Morales said.
The mayor made an appeal to Filinvest last week to reconsider rehiring displaced former workers of the estate.
Filinvest is now processing the applications of the former workers but some of them are already above the age limit of 30 years old.
However, a report emanating from the CDC on Monday indicated that Filinvest has agreed to raise the age requirement to 45 years old.
CDC communications manager Noel Tulabut noted that long queues of applicants, mostly former workers, can now be observed at the former MLE.
He said MLE will remain closed until Filinvest completes its accounting, inventory and renovation of the estate.
