New Army Tradoc chief assumes post

    CAMP O’DONNELL, Tarlac – Brig. Gen. Herminigildo Francisco Aquino formally assumed on Friday (June 17) his post as the new head of the Army Training and Doctrine Command (Tradoc) here.

    Aquino, a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Maharlika” Class of 1984, replaced Maj. Gen. Ivan Samarita who retired after reaching the mandatory age of 56.

    “Under Samarita’s stint, the Army school was able to attain the Proficient Stage in the Army Governance Pathway which is a step closer in attaining our vision to become a world-class training institution by 2022,” Tradoc public information officer Lt. Col. Oscar Partuza said.

    “We conducted several activities prior to his retirement namely a fun bike, fun run, tree planting, and testimonial dinner,” Partuza added.

    Friday’s change of command ceremony was presided by Army chief, Lt. Gen. Eduardo Año.
