NEDA holds eco, financial literacy forum

CAMILING, Tarlac – More than a hundred students and state workers attended the 2018 Economic and Financial Literacy Week (EFLW) forum at the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) as part of its annual observance.

The annual celebration is pursuant to Republic Act No. 10922 otherwise known as the Economic and Financial Act which declares the second week of November of every year as EFLW.

“As part of this, the State recognizes the growth potential of the country through financially literate people who make sound financial decisions, mobilize saving and contribute ideas on improving economic and financial policies program,” National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) assistant regional director Agustin Mendoza said.

“Through this year’s celebration, we want to sustain with fresh elements the government’s bid to educate and empower the public on the basic financial and economic concepts,” he added.

Among the topics discussed include “the law of demand and supply, inflation, interest rate, return on investment, gross domestic product, the Philippine National Identification System, regional economic situationer, AmBisyon Natin 2040 and financial literacy.”

Members of the faculty and personnel of NEDA, TAU, Philippine Statistics Authority and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas were among the various speakers.

This year’s EFLW carried the theme: “National Identification for Greater Economic and Financial Inclusion: Sa Pag-angat ng Ekonomiya at Pinansiya: Lahat Makakasali, Kapag May Pambansang ID.”
