NE to get 300-K doses of AstraZeneca vax

CABANATUAN CITY – The provincial government of Nueva Ecija entered into a tripartite agreement with the national government and a pharmaceutical company for at least 300,000 doses of vaccine against
the coronavirus disease.

Gov. Aurelio Umali on Thursday said the initial purchase of AstraZeneca vaccine may be given to at least 750,000 Novo Ecijanos since it requires two doses each person.

“I already signed a non-disclosure agreement with AstraZeneca,” Umali said, noting that the choice over other anti-Covid vaccines available.

The provincial government, he said, realigned funds, such as from the special education fund, for use in the procurement of the vaccine.

Umali said the provincial board headed by Vice Gov. Anthony Umali has expressed willingness to give him more funds if needed.

The governor noted that the national government will take care of inoculating those enrolled in the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program and frontliners.

“Sa Nueva Ecija po more or less 900,000 ang sasagutin po ng national government,” he said.

Umali said he will meet with Nueva Ecija mayors for this program.
