CABANATUAN CITY — “We will survive.”
Thus said Nueva Ecija 3rd District Rep. Rosanna Vergara of the 15–day extension of the enhanced community quarantine in Central Luzon and other high risk areas.
Under ECQ, people are restrained from going outside their residences except for purchasing food and medicines on scheduled days. Checkpoints manned by police, barangay officials and health workers were set up to prevent people from roaming around even as curfew has also been enforced.
In a separate message to her constituents at the 3rdDistrict, Vergara admitted she herself had fears about the crisis: “Hanggang kailan ang krisis na ito?
Vergara also expressed apprehension over people in need of work and food.
As a member of the House of Representatives, Vergara said she participated in the enactment of the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act on March 24 so the government, through local government units and the Department of Social Welfare and Development can bring aid to the people.
This, as residents of this city received a 10-kilo bag of rice per family as part of her personally-funded Kalinga Para sa Distrito food assistance program on top pf the 30 kilos and a dressed chicken from the city government.
Vergara called on the people to hold on to their faith in God.
Hindi Niya tayo pababayaan,” the lady solon said.
