CABANATUAN CITY – In an emergency session of the sangguniang panlalawigan on Monday, the province of Nueva Ecija was placed under a state of calamity. Presided by Vice Gov. Emmanuel Antonio Umali, the SP passed Resolution No. 482-s- 2022 "declaring the whole province of Nueva Ecija in a state of calamity due to the damages and destruction brought by super Typhoon Karding".

In its resolution, the board considered the report from the office of the provincial agriculturist of “huge damages on crops and livestock” while the provincial engineering office also reported “heavy damages on infrastructures.”

The provincial social welfare and development office, the SP resolution added, reported on the number of families evacuated due to the destruction of their homes and flooding.

"In consideration of the huge damage and destruction sustained by the entire province, the provincial disaster risk reduction and management council, headed by Gov. Aurelio M. Umali, recommended the declaration of state of calamity," the resolution reads.

The declaration will pave the way for the utilization of the province's calamity fund to expedite the delivery of assistance to affected residents.
