CABANATUAN CITY – The Nueva Ecija provincial government will shoulder the expenses for the creation of the poor and indigents who died from coronavirus disease, Gov. Aurelio Umali announced in a meeting of the province’s inter-agency task force Tuesday.
Umali said this is the government’s way of helping poor families in need, noting that the Department of Health protocol requires a person who died of Covid–19 related disease must be buried or cremated within 12 hours of death.
“Let us continue praying for the soul of those who diedand for the comfort and consolations of families who lost their loved ones to Covid-19,” said NE–IATF spokesperson Fr. Arnold Abelardo, CMF.
Meanwhile, local government units continue to deliver food assistance in different cities and municipalities to cushion the impact of the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.
The provincial government, which has huge buffer for having bought and milled locally-produced palay, distribute rice to people in various towns and cities.
The city government of Cabanatuan led by Mayor Myca Elizabeth Vergara also commenced Wednesday its third round of 10-kilo bag of rice distribution to103,000 families here.
The city extends its food assistance in three rounds, the second with dressed chicken, said the Cabanatuan City Information and Tourism Office.
