CABANATUAN CITY – Nueva Ecija has a new police director. Col. Richard Caballero was installed as new officer-in-charge of the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office in simple rites at the headquarters here Friday. Caballero assumed the post vacated by Col. Jess Mendez in ceremonies officiated by Brig. Gen. Jerry Bearis, deputy regional director for administration of the Police Regional Office 3.

Mendez who served as acting NEPPO director for only seven months cited provincial police personnel for their "hard work and dedication in implementing the law," during his stint.

For his part, Caballero who was previously assigned at the Administrative Resource Management Division of Area Police Command, Northern Luzon said that he has committed himself to continue the legacy of the outgoing APD, to pursue the prosecution of cases and to suppress criminality in the province. He added that, he is honored and privileged to follow the footsteps of his predecessor.

Mendez's accomplishments, he said, would never be forgotten.

Bearis underscored that peace and order is the foundation of society as he reiterated the directives of PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin, Jr. to increase police visibility, patrolling and implement his M+K+K=K Program (Malasakit + Kaayusan + Kapayapaan = Kaunlaran) and Kasimbayanan (Kapulisan, Simbahan at Pamayanan).
