CABANATUAN CITY – It’s win some, lose some for contending political families here in the recent polls, manifesting a selective preference of Nueva Ecija voters.

Incumbent 3rd District Rep. Czarina Umali won the gubernatorial post but her husband, incumbent Gov. Aurelio Umali is losing to Rossana Vergara, wife of Mayor Julius Cesar Vergara, in her turf.

The mayor won reelection against Umali’s ally, barangay chairman Ramon Garcia but Umali’s brother, former Board Member Anthony Umali won as vice mayor over Vergara’s ally, Dr. Susan Garcia.

Former 4th District Rep. Rodolfo Antonino lost to Umali in his gubernatorial bid but his daughter, incumbent Rep. Magnolia Antonino-Nadres got reelected in the district.

The Joson family won re-entry in the third district, which includes this city, in having former Vice Gov. Edward Thomas Joson III winning a seat to represent the district in the provincial board, along with his party mate Jojo Matias.

But his cousin, incumbent first district board member Rey Joson lost his reelection bid. Their allies, actor Rommel Padilla and Rap Villanueva won two of the three seats in the district with an Umali ally, Baby Palilio getting reelected.

The son and namesake of incumbent 4th district board member Napoleon Interior won the seat but the senior lost his own bid for the congressional seat.

Re-electionist Mayor Froilan Nagaño won in San Leonardo town but his wife, incumbent Gapan City Mayor Maricel Natividad-Nagaño lost her re-election bid to barangay chairman Emerson Pascual.

Nagano’s son also won one of the three seats to represent fourth district in the provincial board.
