SAMAL, Bataan
Registration for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) under Step 2 continued and went on smoothly and orderly here on Thursday.

Step 2 involves the taking of biometrics that includes fingerprint, iris scan and front-facing photograph.

PhilSys supervisor Daisy Mae Buenaventura said that they started the Step 2 process in Samal last February 2021 with the target of registering 8,900 individuals.

“So far, we have finished under the second step 5,291 registrants,” the supervisor said, adding that PhilSys targets 70 percent of the total population by the end of 2021.

Buenaventura said that they see to it that applicants follow strictly minimum safety protocols like wearing of face masks and face shields, observing physical distancing and application of sanitizers.

She cited screener Analyn Estoya, administrative staff Marco Ascrate and registration operators Jes Christian Castillo, Jennifer Sacdalan, and Helen Ilaga for the smooth and orderly registration procedure.

The applicants have finished Step 1 last year that the Philippine Statistics Authority said involves the collection of the registrant’s information including full name, gender, date and place of birth, blood type and address.

After Step 2, issuance of the ID follows under the third step.
