SAMAL, Bataan — The rural health unit here on Friday announced it was ready to participate in the national vaccination drive against the coronavirus disease on Nov. 29 to Dec. 1, 2021 with 14 vax sites established in 14 barangays of the town all set.

Rural health physician Dr. Ryan Suguitan, said they set inoculation sites in all 14 barangays during the three-day “Bayanihan Bakunahan” of the Department of Health for easy access of villagers and for more people to avail themselves of the vaccine.

He said that they can allow walk-ins but they encouraged unvaccinated villagers to register. Midwives and other health workers earlier got the personal details of those who will receive the vaccine so their QR code will be ready.

“Para dire-diretso na at mapabilis ang proseso,” Suguitan said.

He said that 14 village vaccination sites will attend to priority groups A1 – A3, especially senior citizens and those with comorbidities.

The projected population of Samal to be vaccinated is 39,420. To attain herd immunity, 70 percent of this number or 27,594 have to be jabbed

Suguitan said record showed that 65.96 percent of the town’s population have already received the first vaccine shot or a total of 21,678 individuals while 18,202 were given the final dose.

During the three-day period, the doctor said the 14 barangays have to inoculate a total of more than 1,500 individuals a day or around 5,000 for three days.

“Bale handang-handa na naman ang Samal RHU. Nagbigay na kami ng mga kit sa bawat barangay tapos nagkaroon na kami ng pagpupulong sa lahat ng gagawin,” Suguitan said.

He said that as incentive, the provincial government promised to give five kilos of rice each to all those who will receive the vaccine during the three-day national vaccination campaign.

Gov. Albert Garcia announced that as early Christmas gift to all those who will be vaccinated during the three-day period, they will be given five kilos of rice each as “Handog sa Bakunadong Bataeno.”

Rural health midwife Lolita E. Poblete said that in Barangay Sta. Lucia, they will administer the anti-Covid-19 vaccine at the Catholic chapel in Benedict Subdivision.

“Okay na ang division of labor namin for Monday pati lahat ng gagamitin. Pati mga babakunahan ayos na dahil nakausap na namin sila at tapos na QR code nila.”
