CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The Central Luzon director of the National Police Commission (Napolcom) said here yesterday that members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community are welcome to submit online applications for the police force from July 25 to 29.

Napolcom regional director Rodolfo Grande Santos said that there is no policy against LGBT people in the recruitment for the Philippine National Police (PNP).

“We have tried it in Nueva Ecija since five years ago and we have found them (LGBT community members) could even be more efficient and talented than their colleagues,” said Santos. “

Sometimes, the only way you’d know they are with the LGBT is when you see them with personal things like pink Hello Kitty items, but that’s okay,” he noted.

Santos said the PNP entrance examinations are “open to all Filipino citizens who meet the age, height, and educational requirements” regardless of sexual orientation.

This, despite the need to cite the biological gender of the applicant in the application form.

Application forms can be obtained online from July 18 to 22, but the website will be available starting at 12 noon of July 18 yet. Submission for the filled out forms is from Aug. 15 to Sept. 9, also this year. All regions nationwide have Napolcom-designated examination centers for the applicants.

Applicants have been advised to visit www.napolcom.gov. ph for more details.
