CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – A total of 4,728 marginalized farmers across Pampanga have received a total of ₱18.91 million assistance in a series of aid distribution led by incoming Gov. Lilia “Nanay” Pineda on behalf of Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda.
The assistance was in response to the continued decline in the price of palay and to help farmers cope with the challenges of the rainy season.
Each beneficiary received ₱4,000 cash assistance along with grocery items. The aid was funded by the provincial government through the provincial agriculture, social welfare and development, treasurer’s, disaster risk reduction and management, and information offices.
Nanay Pineda was assisted by members of the sangguniang panlalawigan during the series of distributions held in the province.
In her message to the beneficiaries, she explained that the distribution was delayed due to the election ban imposed by the Commission on Elections.
She thanked the farmers for their unwavering dedication: “You make sure that every Filipino has food on the table. We owe you our gratitude.”
Provincial agriculturist Jimmy Manliclic also highlighted the Capitol’s long-term efforts to support the farming sector, including the opening of two rice processing centers in Pulong Masle, Guagua, and Sta. Catalina, Lubao which, once fully operational, will allow farmers to sell their palay at more competitive prices.
In addition to agricultural support, medical assistance from the Capitol remains available. Farmers and other Kapampangans are encouraged to approach their barangay health workers or local officials to access free medical services. Pampanga PIO/Photos: Daniel Ombina
