LIMAY, Bataan: The Philippine Coast Guard reported that MV Mirola I that ran aground in Mariveles, Bataan last July 23 was towed Thursday with no oil sheen observed during the operation.
Towing operations started at 11:51 a.m. with the assistance of M/tug Marites Asuncion from the vicinity waters of sitio Quiapo in Barangay Biaan, Mariveles. It was brought to a shipyard in Barangay Alas-Asin, also in Mariveles for retrofitting and repair.
PCG said no oil sheen was observed during the operation.
PCG’s BRP Panglao (FPB – 2402) provided security during the towing activities.
Preparations are also ongoing for the siphoning of oil from MT Terra Nova that sank off Limay, Bataan on July 25 loaded with 1.4 million liters of industrial oil.
Arrangements are also underway for the turning afloat of MT Jason Bradley in Mariveles and safely collect its load of 5,500 liters of diesel oil. (30)
