GEN. LLANERA, Nueva Ecija — "Nanawagan po ako sa mga otoridad na tulungan
po kaming maresolba ang kaso ng tatay ko," appealed the daughter of a Zambales
businessman who was fished out with a bullet wound in the head in an irrigation
canal in Barangay Sta. Barbara here on Saturday.
The victim was identified as Paquito de Guzman, 66, a native of Barangay San
Vicente here who has been residing in Iba, Zambales.
Brenda de Guzman-Cortez, the victim's daughter, said her father left his parents'
house in Barangay San Vicente here Thursday morning on board an orange pickup
truck (NCM 2814).
He was reportedly bringing with him some P3.5 million cash intended for the
purchase of a dump truck.
That afternoon, he was last seen talking to three unidentified persons, including a
woman, at a convenience store in the municipality of Bongabon, Nueva Ecija,
investigation showed.
The vehicle was found abandoned somewhere in Sta. Maria, Pangasinan at about
6:45 p.m. Saturday with blood, scattered documents, and an empty bag inside,
police said.
Cortez said she'd been texting the victim but did not get any reply that night:
"Usually pag nag-text po ako sa kanya na tawagan niya ko, tumatawag po siya
agad. Kahit nagda-drive or naliligo tumatawag po siya sa 'kin.”
An autopsy revealed that the gunshot wound in the head caused the victim's
death, police said.
"Nanawagan po ako sa mga otoridad na tulungan po kaming maresolba ng kaso
ng tatay ko," pleaded Cortez.
