FLORIDABLANCA, Pampanga- A suspect in a simple theft got back at the lone witness in his case last Monday but ended up in jail facing a frustrated murder case in this town.

Supt. Jhoanna Rosales, chief of the Floridablanca police, identified the suspect as Ely Brozo, 24 and native of Rapo-rapo Albay, who is reportedly a suspect in a minor theft case in Dinalupihan, Bataan.

She also identified the victim as Bryan Reyes, 21, a resident of Barangay Gutad here and reportedly the lone witness in the suspect’s case.

Rosales, in a report, said Reyes and his friends went swimming at the Blue Lagoon resort in Barangay Gutad and were about to leave at 4:30 p.m. when the suspect emerged from behind with a knife.

The suspect, also a resident of Gutad, then repeatedly plunged his knife into Reyes’ back.

Looking backward and seeking Brozo holding the knife, Reyes, already wounded, ran away while shouting for help.

Rosales said the incident was witnessed by barangay tanods Erwin Manuel and Rroderick Crisostomo who alerted a nearby police station where cops rushed to the scene and arrested Brozo.

Reyes was rushed to a nearby hospital but was later moved to the more modern Jose Lingad Memorial Hospital in the capital city of San Fernando.

Rosales said that apart from the theft case he is facing, Brozo is now also charged with frustrated murder.
