BALANGA CITY – Notwithstanding previous announcements, motorists in Bataan were still surprised at the high increase in gas prices when they woke up Tuesday morning to go to gas stations to load either diesel or gasoline but said they cannot do anything but to accept it.

From P62.95 – P63.50 per liter of diesel Monday night, the price rose to P75 – P76.75 depending on the gas station. Premium gasoline jumped from P68.35 – P68.80 to P74.40 – P75.45. XCS gasoline is now P76.90 from Monday’s P69.80. Unleaded gasoline from P68.05 Monday went up to P73.90.

“Alam kong mataaas ang halaga ng gasolina pero hindi ko ine-expect na ganyang kataas,” Lyn Miranda of Samal, Bataan said while her car was being loaded with gasoline adding, “wala akong magagawa dahil hindi ko nalaman at dapat kagabi pa lang ay nakapagpakarga na ako.”

Miranda said the oil price hike is global because a companion who just arrived from Canada told her of the high prices of oil. “Aware naman ako na mataas talaga dahil noong mga nakaraan ay mataas na.”

A tricycle driver was resigned to the belief that nothing can be done to the oil price hike. “Ganito na ngayon laging pataas at wala nang pababa.”

He said he was not able to buy gasoline Monday night because he went home already late and gas stations were already closed.

“Wala namang magagawa at hanggang salita lang naman ang mga tao. Kahit anong sabihin natin ay wala namang magagawa dahil ganon na talaga,” the tricycle driver said.

Rudel Hernandez said he knew of the oil price hike Tuesday but he failed to load gasoline Monday night being so busy.

“Para makatipid, hindi ko na masiyadong gagamitin ang sasakyan ko. Magta-tricycle na lang ako,” Hernandez said.
